Porch Thoughts: Not My Monkey, Not My Circus… But What If It Is?
Sometimes the smallest things we encounter leave us with the biggest thoughts. Yesterday, I went to a craft fair. Nothing unusual, just a simple day out enjoying the little things. As I pulled into the parking lot, I noticed my phone battery was nearly dead. I quickly started typing a message to my husband to let him know I had made it safely and that my phone was about to die. But before I could hit send, the screen went black. Dead as a doornail. Oh well, I thought. No big

Spring Time Blooms = Redbud Jelly!
#redbudjelly I am not a big fan of Spring. I love the "newness" of life that comes with Spring, but not the ups and downs of the weather. I do however, get excited when I see Redbud trees in full bloom. If you have not tried Redbud Jelly you should! It is simple to make and it is a real treat. The hardest part of the entire process is collecting the flower buds! It is a little tedious! But please don't let that deter you from trying this! Let's get started! This recipe

SUPERSTITIONS IN THE KITCHEN
Have you ever spilled salt? If so, what is the first thing you do? Sweep it up or throw some over your left shoulder with your right hand to undo your bad luck? Well, what about PEPPER? Never gave it a thought until I dropped my McCormick's Pepper shaker in the floor at my feet spilling some on the floor. Looking down at the mess on my floor, a thought came to me. Is this bad luck? No, that is salt. Right? Oh, gosh! What is pepper then? I bent over and picked it up off the fl

"How to Grow the Best Strawbale Strawberries: A Beginner's Guide"
We love straw-bale planting and have found that the best way to grow a small stand of strawberries is in straw-bales. One of the main reasons gardeners get frustrated with growing strawberries, is because of the constant weed competition. Serious growers can incorporate matted row systems or installing fabric mats or barriers. Although both are excellent ways to help keep the weeds from taking over your berry garden, we have found that straw-bale planting has more benefits

The Beginning or the End?
Funny title but it is pretty much where my thoughts are right now! Is this the beginning or the end of this journey? I try to not mix my personal life into my business but I feel if I help one person or even let one person know that they are not alone, it was worth it. Winkleberry Farm is and always has been a journey filled with love, hopes and dreams. There were moments when I wanted to give up. I thought, "Everyone seems to be doing this" or "Why would anyone be inter

I Am Thankful For....."My Memory"
I am sure this sounds like a weird statement but let us stop and think about it. Memory. The one thing that we take for granted. We have had it for as long as we can remember and when it starts to fade, we are not exactly sure when it started to happen. But it does happen. We may not lose all of our memory, but it starts to get fuzzy the older we get. Today is Thanksgiving. The only plans I had made for the day was to visit my Mother-In-Law in the Assisted Living Unit
