SUPERSTITIONS IN THE KITCHEN

Have you ever spilled salt? If so, what is the first thing you do? Sweep it up or throw some over your left shoulder with your right hand to undo your bad luck? Well, what about PEPPER? Never gave it a thought until I dropped my McCormick's Pepper shaker in the floor at my feet spilling some on the floor. Looking down at the mess on my floor, a thought came to me. Is this bad luck? No, that is salt. Right? Oh, gosh! What is pepper then? I bent over and picked it up off the floor and continued frying our eggs. However, the thought of what crazy superstition accompanied the spilling of pepper loomed in the air! I had to know!! So, after breakfast, I did some research. For all you superstition followers out there, there is one!! Yep! The spilling of pepper according to the world wide web, could mean (...) an impending argument may ensue between you and a friend. WHAT?! I am a very non-confrontational person and to argue with a friend is a horrible thought. But guess what? There is no cure. I could not find anything that says I need to throw any pepper over my shoulder, head, or at someone while standing on one foot to erase what I had done. Nothing of the sort. It sounds to me, if you believe in superstitions, that the spillage of pepper is far worse than the spillage of salt. Salt can be undone. But apparently not pepper! So, to all my dear friends.......if I get salty with you.....it is not my fault! For at breakfast time, I spilled the pepper!
